Small Business and the Phone

I haven't written a blog since I switched website host and it is past time! If you read my other post, you might remember I did several on starting my small business. This will be one of those. (I love sharing my experience and helping others start their small business.)

Six months ago, my husband, my friends and myself moved my business out of the garage and into a small retail location. I had no idea what I was getting into and expected to learn a lot. But one thing that really surprised me was the amount of junk and scam phone calls we would receive once we got a "real" business line. I feel/felt like I was paying Comcast to share my info with spammers. At first, it was non-stop, every 5-10 minutes. Seriously! Plus, I almost fell for one of the scams! (More on that later.)

So future small business owners be warned! You will need extra help just to answer calls. I am lucky, my retired Mother helps answer the phone but not all small business owners are that lucky.
